Sony is beginning to highlight its upcoming Indie titles.
Independent publishers and developers are having their day today over at Sony. The company is kicking-off their Indie initiative and will be debuting several games. First up on the list is Hello Neighbor and the heavily memed Bugsnax is in the pipeline for the PS5 soon. FIST (Forged in Shadow Torch) is also showing is head.
“The indie community is increasingly important for the future of the video game industry, as AAA game development has grown so financially demanding that big companies are finding it harder to take risks to invest in new concepts that may or may not work,” wrote Shuhei Yoshida the Head over at Worldwide Studios. He continues explaining, “We trust indie developers with strong vision will continue to bring ideas that have never been tried before, creating whole new genres of games and advancing the art and meaning of video games. PlayStation has always embraced games with completely new concepts, like PaRappa the Rapper, Katamari Damacy, LittleBigPlanet, and Journey, and we look forward to seeing what surprising new ideas will come next!”
Sony is still tentatively set to launch the PlayStation 5 in the fall of 2020. And, the PS5 will have exclusives, not unlike Microsoft’s Xbox X. No prices released for the PS5 or Xbox X yet.
