The upcoming Xbox showcase is missing one huge important aspect.
Alright. Seems we’re living in some alternate universe. You know the one… where a new model car is not shown or talked about, but we learn everything about the radio, the tires and the roof rack. Or the new 65″ OLED 4k TV in the market that can’t be seen, but instead of showing and actually highlighting the details of the TV, the brilliant geniuses in the Marketing department go deep into all the shows and broadcasts you can watch, and how you can hook it up to HDMI. Make much sense here? Didn’t think so.
The above examples are what not to do when you’re coming out with a new product, item, or whatever. People want to see and know about it (the hardward/console) before all the rest of the bells and whistles. Case in point, Xbox has decided to first go into the future of their games, rather into the future of their hardware. It’s confusing because the title of their event is “See the Future of Xbox on July 23…” That would lead one to believe they’d be talking about the pricing for Xbox Series X or a reveal of the rumored digital Project Lockhart among other possibilities. Nope.
According to Aaron Greenberg, General Manager, Xbox Gaming, the July 23rd event will be strictly about games and games only. There goes our excitement about learning more about the new Xbox Lockhart. Welcome to this alternate universe.
I know everyone is excited for Xbox Games Showcase next Thursday. Seen some wild expectations so if helpful this show has one focus, games. No business, devices or similar news, just games. A whole show about hour long focused on games. Hope you enjoy it! https://t.co/eIPBsJtLbJ

The showcase is slated for an hour (yes just a single hour) block and will be available on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. It will feature of note a first-look at a Halo Infinite’s campaign, and will be streamed in 1080p/60fps during the live broadcast. The numerous game trailers to be featured will be at 4k.
We’ll be tuned-in and report what was revealed. Will you? Let us know how you feel about the announcement at @glancegame
