Both of the boxes, PS4 and PS5, pretty much look the same with one notable difference.
Sony has just put out some images of what game boxes are going to look like for the PS5’s games. They are strikingly similar to the old PS4 boxes except for one thing. The PS5 boxes will have a white stripe at the top of the box with the PS5 logo in it. That should make it pretty easy to make sure you didn’t buy a PS4 game when you wanted one for the PS5.
Here’s what it will look like:

The game they featured for the box reveal was none other than Spider-Man: Miles Morales. As one can see the game box includes the new PlayStation logo, and the white stripe across the top with a black logo. The white stripe also carries over to the spine of the box making it pretty easy to keep the two apart.
We’re a bit disappointed in the lack-luster effort behind the new game boxes. It would seem that every design effort was put into revamping the hardware but nothing on the packaging? The boxes could of had a nice design tie-in with the hardware… but nope.
There still is no firm release date for the PS5. We peg it around the holiday season, but that’s dependent on a lot of things. Suppose Sony is waiting to see how things pan-out as well.
